Childhood is a wonderful time! And how important it is not only to be able to keep your “inner child” intact until old age, but also to understand how to interact with children, taking into account the characteristics of their age and psychology. This and many other things are taught at the Institute of Childhood of Moscow State Pedagogical University - an excellent university, which is described in more detail in our material.
Briefly about the Moscow Pedagogical School
Before getting acquainted with the Institute of Childhood, which is a subdivision of the Moscow State Pedagogical University, it would be logical to say at least a few words about this university itself, which has been “living” in the world for more than a hundred years. Its history began in the seventies of the century before last, when the Higher Women's Courses were organized in Moscow. It was they who became the first educational institution for women of any social status in our country. At the beginning of the twentieth century, one of the professors of women's courses, who had already received the status of a state institution by that time, was Vladimir Vernadsky (he was also supposed to become their leader, however, assays it didn't work out). In this regard, it is not surprising that it is on Vernadsky Avenue in Moscow that MSGU is now located, however, we will not get ahead of ourselves and will tell you about the address of the university later.
Besides Vernadsky, many more prominent personalities are associated with the above-mentioned organization - Sergei Chaplygin, Vasily Klyuchevsky, Ivan Tsvetaev (father of the poetess Marina Tsvetaeva), and Nikolai Koltsov - and many other famous names.
A new stage in the life of the Higher Women's Courses began in 1918, when they were transformed into the Second Moscow State University. Then it consisted of only three faculties: physical and mathematical, medical and historical and philological. However, after three years, a pedagogical faculty appeared, after which others began to appear. And in 1930, three independent universities were formed from the Second Moscow University. One of them, created on the basis of the Faculty of Education, was just the same MSGU - Moscow State Pedagogical University. True, at that time it was not yet a university, but an institute (MPGI received the proud title of university only at the end of the twentieth century - in 1990, becoming the first pedagogical university not only in Russia, but throughout the world).
After a couple of decades, the university has grown - defectology, industrial-pedagogical, and city pedagogical institutes have been added to it. During its existence, the university has undergone manydifficulties, especially in the nineties of the last century, when there was an acute shortage of finance in almost all sectors. It was hard to stay afloat, but MSGU survived - and not just survived, but became one of the best universities in the country. He continues to be him to this day.
Institute of Childhood MSGU
So let's continue. The department of the Pedagogical University on Prospekt Vernadsky in Moscow, dedicated to childhood, is quite young - it has just entered its fifth year. Although the Institute of Childhood was formed, it was not at all from scratch - it was reorganized from two old faculties of the Moscow State Pedagogical University, primary and defectological. Therefore, if we consider the question of the years of the “life” of the department from this point of view, then its age is quite respectable.
Now as part of this new unit in the structure of Moscow State Pedagogical University there are more than a dozen departments of both defectological and primary profiles - and not only. Their common goal is to teach students how to properly interact with a child at all stages of his development, taking care of the fragile world of childhood. Next, we will talk about the work of the Institute of Childhood at Moscow State Pedagogical University in more detail.
Faculties
As mentioned above, the Institute of Childhood took shape from the combination of two faculties of a pedagogical university. These same faculties remained in the structure of the new department. Let's get acquainted with each of them separately.
Defectological
The Defectology Department of Moscow State Pedagogical University will be 100 years old next year. It grew out of special medical and defectological courses founded at Moscow State Pedagogical University due to the needresearching the causes of defectiveness and teaching this to new teaching staff. At that time, Vsevolod Kashchenko, whose brother Peter is the more famous representative of this family, was in charge of these courses.
faculty of defectology, which is still active.
Who can work after the end of this direction? The range of professions is not too extensive, but there is a choice. This is a teacher or a defectologist, a teacher, an employee in the field of he althcare and additional education. It is important that all these people help children with developmental delays and disabilities to adapt to life in society, to cope with their problems and difficulties.
Chairs of the Faculty of Defectology
In total, there are six departments in the aforementioned department of the Institute of Childhood of the Moscow State Pedagogical University: oligophrenopedagogy, inclusive education, typhlopedagogy, preschool defectology, speech therapy and the clinical foundations of defectology. Let's briefly go over each of them.
Department of Oligophrenopedagogy explores the possibility of using special education methods for children with developmental disorders; its teachers share with students the knowledge of how to organize the educational and educational process in order to correct mental retardation, talk about the essence of thisdiseases.
The department of inclusive education also deals with deaf pedagogy - that is, problems devoted to teaching people with hearing impairments. How to communicate with such children, how to introduce them to society and teach them in the framework of inclusive education (that is, aimed at children and implying a flexible methodology that suits different goals and needs) is the subject of interest of this department.
What is speech therapy, as well as preschool defectology (developmental delays in very young children), presumably, is clear to everyone, and we will not dwell on this. But the concept of typhlopedagogy is not familiar to everyone; meanwhile, this is teaching to the blind, and this is what the work at the department of the same name is devoted to. Finally, the Department of Clinical Foundations of Defectology with doctors and biologists as employees is studying an integrated approach through medicine and psychology to the anatomical and physiological characteristics of people with developmental disabilities and is developing ways to overcome these difficulties.
Primary faculty
Faculty of Primary Education, a year younger than his defectological colleague. As you might guess, specialists are trained here to work with children of primary school age. The faculty also has six departments, about them below - in more detail.
Departments of the Primary Faculty
The Faculty of Primary Education has the following departments: the Russian language and its teaching methods, mathematics and computer science, foreign languages, psychologyjunior schoolchild, research and creative activities, as well as the theory and practice of primary education. And if the essence and meaning of the work of the first three departments is clear, then it is worth clarifying about the last three.
The Department of Psychology of the Junior School Student will celebrate its 30th anniversary in three years. Specialists are working here who are working on determining the psychological portrait of an elementary school student and ways to approach each child individually. The spectrum of interest of the department is multifaceted. Here they study the development of the imagination of children and the pedagogical competencies of teachers, the abilities of students and the personal meanings of learning - and much more.
The department of research and creative activity has three directions - natural science, technology (they are also works) and fine arts. They conduct research and scientific activities. The last department, theory and practice of education, deals with rather versatile issues. They study how to improve the preparation of a future teacher, how to develop meta-subject results, how to properly educate a younger student, how to correctly introduce the latest developments - and so on and so forth.
Other structural units
In addition to the two faculties, the Institute of Childhood includes two general departments and the Center for Psychological and Pedagogical Support for Special Students (with Disabilities). One of the departments is engaged in information technologies in education, the second - in psychologicalanthropology.
