Internet users have to deal with the concept of "link" every day. Everyone interprets its meaning differently. In this article, we will explain what a link is and what it is used for.

Internet link concept

We are all used to the fact that clicking on a certain site object or offer redirects us to another page or even a resource. What is a link? This is a tool for moving between sections of the site and directly between the Internet resources themselves. Search engines use it to index new items. The structure of a link (or hyperlink) is as follows: URL (the address of the page where the navigation is being made) and anchor (the element on which the transition is created; it can be in the form of a URL or an image).

What is a link, we already know. It's time to find out what their types are. Link texts can be divided into four categories:

1. Exact entry. The keyword or phrase included in the anchor and the text itself in the same form. Example: wooden table.

2. Query with environment. Type of anchor in which a keyword or phrase is surrounded by near-link text (if we are talking about an article orpublications) and advertising, other links, interface elements, and so on. Example: How to buy a wooden table in St. Petersburg.

3. Dilution request. In this type of anchor, the main keyword is diluted with an additional qualifying word, which can also participate in the promotion. Example: a wooden table in St. Petersburg.

4. Anchorless text. Instead of the request text, neutral words are used (“here”, “here”). Example: buy a wooden table here.

Broadly speaking, links can be divided into external links (redirecting to items outside of your site) and internal links (redirecting to items inside your site).

The concept of a link in Microsoft Word

What is a link in Word? When using a text editor, this question often arises. There are several ways in which a link to a website can be inserted into a document. Let's take a closer look at them.

Option 1

The easiest way is to copy the link from your internet browser and just paste it into your document.

Option 2

1. We go to the program "Word" in the section "Insert". Find the item "Hyperlink" and click on it.

2. In the window that opens, we need to fill in two fields: "Text" and "Address". In the first one we write the name of the link (for example, "wooden table"), in the second we insert it itself.

3. Click "OK". Done!

Option 3

You can enter the link manually. That is, you can independentlytype it, starting with the letters http and so on, and press the Enter key. In the future, in order for such a link in Word to redirect to the specified site, you must click on it with the left mouse button while holding down the Crtl key. In the same way, you can do redirects inside the computer. For example, in one text document, make a link to another text or picture. To do this, in the opened window of the "Hyperlink" section, instead of the address, select the target file.

In this article, we looked at what a link to a site and a hyperlink in a text document are.
