University in the 20th century

By the 20th century, Johns Hopkins University had grown so much that the existing premises became cramped, and the board of trustees was moved outside the new campus. The richest residents of the city of B altimore made a joint decision to allocate land to the university with the subsequent construction of new university buildings on it. The first office building, named Gilman Hall, opened in 1915. Soon the School of Engineering and the School of Art also moved to new premises.

In the 20th century, it became especially obvious that a combination of higher education and science brings unique results. The first president of the university, Daniel Gilman, had a hand in implementing this philosophy, and he became one of the founders of the modern system of higher education in the United States.

Decrease in the number of applicants to study at Johns Hopkins University is not hindered even by the extremely high cost of education, which starts at $60,000 a year. Despite such a high fee, even students who do not have enough money can study at the university. This is facilitated by special sponsorship programs financed by the university fund. In addition to bachelor's and master's programs, the university also offers a Ph. D.
