A general arrangement drawing is a document that defines the design of a product, assembly unit or part, explains the principle of its operation, as well as the interaction of the main components. This document is developed at the initial design stage. It is made as a technical proposal or when developing a technical project.
Usually a general view drawing is performed as simplified as possible, the components of the product can be shown on one or more consecutive sheets.
According to the ESKD (Unified System for Design Documentation) standards and requirements for design documents, the drawing must have views, sections and sections, be made to a certain scale, contain the main dimensions of the product and designations.
Names and designations can be entered in a table placed on the same sheet or indicated using callout lines. On the shelf of the leader line, the position number is indicated, which will then be described in the attached table. In the table placed on the free field of the drawing, the columns are usually filled in: “Pos.” - where indicate the corresponding position number, "Designation", "Qty." - the number of such details,"Additional instructions" such as material data or how the surface should be treated.
A general arrangement drawing may have text in the form of technical requirements or characteristics, and this part must be placed on the first sheet. There should not be any images between the table, the text part and the main inscription (stamp).
The specification of the drawing, made in the form of a table, helps to read such a document. The names of parts, composition and technical characteristics necessary for reading the document are usually entered in such a form on separate sheets of A-4 format.
Referring to the specification, you can easily navigate through all the documents:
- in the "Designation" column, using a specific designation, indicate which particular drawing is being described (general view drawing of a part or assembly drawing of a product);
-
column "Format" will tell if the part has the attached drawing of a certain format A-1, A-2, A-3 or A-4, and if the column says "BC", then this is a standard part and in general has no blueprint;
- column “Pos.” indicates the number of the described position of the part in the drawing;
- column "Name" gives a complete picture of the name of a particular part or product, the material used and the available "Documentation";
-
column "Number" indicates how many parts or products need to be completed according to the drawing, select standard elements to create the entire assembly unit shown in the drawing.
The specification for the drawing is performed for each assembly unit, filled in from top to bottom, and the sections are arranged in a certain sequence, only according to certain GOSTs. Depending on the composition of the item being specified, some sections may not be completed at all.
The final result of the project depends on the accuracy of the drawing and the correct filling of the specification. The drawing must be clear and easy to read. Therefore, such stringent requirements are imposed on him.
