It began its existence with the Stalingrad Mechanical and Tractor Engineering Institute. This school was founded in 1930. By the beginning of the 80s, it was renamed and became known as the Volgograd Polytechnic Institute. In 1993, having gone through a difficult path to improve education, the institute was renamed again and now became known as the Volgograd Technical University. With the new status and name in the educational institution, the educational program was reorganized.
