In our speech there are a sufficient number of words and set expressions that we use quite often without delving deeply into their meaning. Or, on the contrary, a person, using the word in the correct, but unusual sense for the majority, may stumble upon a wall of misunderstanding on the part of people who are used to using the term in a different context.
It seems to me that such a concept as “aspect” can be attributed to the number of such terms. This concept is used by psychologists and journalists, politicians and educators. We hear it quite often and are already accustomed to such phrases as “aspects of communication” or “aspect of development”. I am sure that the vast majority of people correctly understand the meaning of the word "aspect" in this context, namely, as a word denoting a side or one of the components of the phenomenon under consideration.
However, sometimes the use of this word can come as a surprise. For example: “The seasonal aspect of poplar foliage has changed significantly in recent years” or “Ancient scientists paid special attention to the aspect of 150 degrees.” Agree, it sounds a little strange. However, the use of the term in these sentences is not the fault of a negligent author, it is quitejustified. In the first phrase, aspect is a term in biology and indicates a specific feature by which changes in natural habitats are tracked. The second term characterizes a certain arrangement of the planets and is used in astrology.
Several branches of knowledge and applied science use the concept of "aspect". This is a joining logical object in one of the
industries of programming. It is a synonym in linguistics (for example, to the word "opinion"). In astronomy, an aspect is a certain arrangement of planets or other objects relative to the Sun or to each other. In psychology, this concept is used to denote approaches, types, as well as the object of scientific research. The most common, despite the variety of areas of application, remains the concept of an aspect as a point of view on a situation, problem, field of knowledge or one of its components.
As you can see, this concept has a fairly wide range of meanings, and it can be applied both in biology and in software development.
Another question - how appropriate is the use of this word in a little-known meaning, unknown to the general public? Of course, this can surprise specialists, for whom the non-traditional use and meaning of the word “aspect” is part of professional terminology. But in an ordinary conversation, such "cleverness" can play a cruel joke with the "expert". Interlocutors may perceive it as disrespect or deliberate bragging, and suchthe reaction of others is hardly the desired outcome.
Summing up, I would like to say: any conversation will proceed easily and naturally if the interlocutors do not try to "show off" the depth of their knowledge. Speech, replete with obscure terms that are inappropriate for the situation, causes irritation, and it is difficult to call such a person a pleasant conversationalist.
