Family
The girl's father Alexei Bubnov served as secretary of the Leningrad City Executive Committee since 1943. After some time, he was arrested in the course of the implementation of the Leningrad case. In 1950, a man was shot because of charges of participating in counter-revolutionary activities and assisting enemies. After 4 years, he was posthumously rehabilitated. All members of the family of Alexei Alexandrovich automatically fell under suspicion, for which they were also arrested. The girl's mother was sent to the Taishet camp, and Lyudmila herself ended up in a children's labor correctional colony, where she lived until 1953.
The head of the colony, Viktoria Nikolaevna, immediately noticed an active and capable girl. They communicated with each other, and Victoria Nikolaevna did everything to give the baby the opportunity to build her life. Lyudmila Verbitskaya went to school, and then she was able to pass the entrance exams to the Lviv University at the Faculty of Philology. Afterafter her father was rehabilitated, Verbitskaya was able to transfer to Leningrad.
Career start
Verbitskaya Lyudmila Alekseevna, whose biography is described in this article, graduated with honors from the university. Her life was connected with the Leningrad University for a long time. After graduation, she was a laboratory assistant, then a graduate student, and soon became a junior research fellow. Her career slowly went up, and Lyudmila Verbitskaya became an assistant, and after a while - an assistant professor.
In 1979 she became a professor at the Department of Phonetics and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages. After 6 years, Lyudmila was already the head of the department of general linguistics. In May 1993, she was the acting rector of St Petersburg University, and in the spring of 1994 she became the first female rector of the university. She was re-elected in 1999 and 2004.
During her administration, two new faculties appeared in the educational institution - medical and international relations. In 2008, Lyudmila Verbitskaya became the President of St Petersburg University. In the spring of 2010, in combination with her main position, she became the dean of the Faculty of Philology.
Scientific activity
Verbitskaya Lyudmila Alekseevna wrote about 300 educational and scientific manuals in the fields of phonetics, philology and general linguistics. In her writings, much attention is paid to the choice of effective teaching methods. Many of them deal with the problems of modernpronunciation of words. They formed the basis for the creation of new directions in philology, which are associated with the interference of sounds and pronunciation norms. A year before defending her candidate's work, she is elected a member of the Russian Academy of Education. In the fall of 2013, he masters a new position - the president of the Russian Academy of Education. Lyudmila Verbitskaya receives government approval for the position.
Under the President of the Russian Federation, Lyudmila Verbitskaya is a member of a number of Councils: on science, linguistics, and guaranteeing the constitutional rights of citizens. Husband Lyudmila had a similar story. He was the son of Alexander Verbitsky, who was repressed in the same Leningrad case. Vsevolod Aleksandrovich was Lyudmila's only husband. In marriage, the couple had two girls - Victoria and Elena. The man died in 1998.
