Modernity gives us many wonderful words. Or rather: sometimes reality saturates familiar words with new meanings. Let's consider today the question of what a plop is what it is.
Meaning
This is not the case when the word is unambiguous. The meanings we are considering have many, as many as seven:
- A slap in the face for a misdemeanor or just a blow. “The son angered his father so much that he could not restrain himself and gave him a plop in the form of a cuff.”
- Something squashed. For example, cow dung. Dung that fell from somewhere on the ground and took the form of a bun.
- Big Bun.
- Mistake. “This one had to be so disgraced, to allow such a splash?”.
- Bonuses, a nice moment, something that brings joy. “If you buy this TV, you will get many different perks: a free gym membership for a month, a hair dryer, and a 50% discount on any purchase.”
- Same as lying. “In the yard they talked about only one thing, how Nikolai Petrovich bought a Mercedes. Another slap, he doesn't even have a license.”
- This is what drug addicts say about a spool of hashish.
It's hard to separate the colloquial from the jargon, but it's clear thatthe values 4, 5, 6, 7 are jargon.
In the history of cinema, there are probably many epic moments, but from the recent Soviet past, one recalls the plop that was given to one of the main characters in the film “Where is the Nofelet?”, Gennady, Valya's wife. Here is a splash so a splash. You can twist several times, and still not get bored.
Synonyms
Since the question of what a plop is, it is impossible to answer in a single way and use only one meaning, then the object of study should have many replacement words. Let's see:
- bonus;
- nonsense;
- lure;
- crack;
- crap;
- false;
- blooper;
- awkwardness;
- not true;
- slap;
- error;
- gift;
- slap;
- miss;
- talk;
- hit.
The list could be more, but we decided to feel sorry for the reader, it seems that these are enough. The main thing is that a person understands the meaning of the word, and then he will be able, based on the situation, to understand which replacement will be adequate. Now the reader knows what a splash is, we are sure.
Splashes like yummy in a broad sense
Everyone knows Carlson, who stole buns from the housekeeper. He thought they were very tasty. Then we learned that for people with addiction, splatter (what it is, has already been disassembled and analyzed) is also something that is associated with pleasant. At the same time, the word as an integral part of youth jargon appeared completelyrecently. The question is who is responsible for this - the kitchen or the street. That is, the word “splash” borrowed a positive meaning from pastry chefs or drug addicts? I would like to believe that the former, but it is possible that the latter, knowing the people's love for everything marginal. For example, criminal slang is still very popular among the population. There is some magic, apparently, in all these words.
What is a plop? Jargon is what makes it difficult to understand. Let's continue further consideration of the word already on a different material.
Igor Akinfeev and his "splashes"
Sad as it may seem, but we have to turn for material to an open, non-healing wound - the game of the Russian national football team at the last Confederations Cup. The goalkeeper of the national team, the famous Igor Akinfeev, once again upset the fans with his game. His mistake in the match with Mexico cost us a place in the semi-finals of the tournament. It is clear that Russia would not have won the Cup, but it's still a shame. And most importantly, the gatekeeper's mistake is a real plop.
But probably still not the most striking example. Do you want to know what a plop (jargon) is? Review the 2014 World Cup match Russia - South Korea. That's where Akinfeev was wrong, so wrong. But there's nothing to be done, it's a sport. Igor can only console himself with the fact that in the teams coached by Fabio Capello, things were not going well for the goalkeepers (remember Hart in England). Maybe some fluids or vibrations are to blame. Our main goalkeeper often helped out, but he clearly lacks psychological stability.
Summarizing, let's say: mistakesAkinfeeva is not even a slop, it is a full-fledged epic fail, to use youth terminology.
Should I use slang words in speech?
The question is difficult. On the one hand, when they learned the meaning of the word "splash", the temptation to embellish their speech incessantly is great. On the other hand, the Russian language is great and powerful not with these words, it is better to speak correctly, albeit a little old-fashioned.
But at the same time, there is such literature where all sorts of slang is in its place (as an example, you can open the book by Vasily Pavlovich Aksenov “Say raisins”). But this is without exaggeration high art. Of course, Pelevin is also remembered, but he sometimes goes too far in this sense.
In other words, only a person can determine what word he needs in a given situation, but it is best to know the language in all its diversity, although this is impossible. But a native speaker must set himself up to strive for the ideal.
Let's assume that today we have taken one small step in the given direction: we have understood the meaning of "plop".
