Kazakh National University (Almaty)

Named after the Eastern philosopher and scientist al-Farabi. It is the oldest classical university of the republic, established by the resolution of the Office of the Regional Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 1933-13-11. KazNU: pages of history
The main university of Kazakhstan began its work 2 months after its creation - on 15.01.1934 - on the basis of the already existing Alma-Ata Pedagogical Institute. On December 2 of the same year, KazNU was named after the Soviet party functionary S. M. Kirov.
In the winter of 1934, the first entrance exams were held at the faculties of biology, physical and mathematical sciences; in September they were held at the Faculty of Chemistry. In 1937, the first faculty of the humanities - foreign languages - was created; a year later - the Faculty of Philology. In May 1941, after the takeover of the Kazakh Communist Institute of Journalism, the Faculty of Journalism was created.
After the war hard times, new faculties opened at the Kazakh University. In August 1947, the Faculty of Geography was established, and in 1949, the Faculty of Philosophy and Economics. As a result of the accession of the Alma-Ata Institute of Law in 1955, the Faculty of Law was organized. In the same period, a strong scientific, educational and methodological base was formed at the university. By the mid-80s, KazNU had 98 departments, 43 researchlaboratories and 9 research groups.
Eurasian National University (Astana)
Continues the list of universities in Kazakhstan ENU. L. N. Gumilyov. In the national ranking of universities, he deservedly took the second position, yielding only a few percent to KazNU.
ENU includes 28 scientific institutions (research institutes, laboratories, centers), 13 schools, a military department, cultural and educational centers. The system of training specialists at the university is carried out at three levels of education:
- undergraduate (65 programs);
- Master's (68 programs);
- doctoral studies (38 programs).
Admission to ENU is carried out on the basis of state educational grants and contractual basis.
One of the youngest universities in Kazakhstan was founded on May 23, 1996, on the initiative of the permanent president of the country, Nazarbayev, by merging the leading universities of Astana: civil engineering and pedagogical. In 2001, by presidential decree, ENU was given a special status - national. It is very symbolic that the university is named after the historian and ethnologist, one of the founders of the concept of Eurasianism, Lev Gumilyov.
National Medical University of Kazakhstan (Almaty)
Among the medical universities of the country KazNMU named after. S. D. Asfendiyarova, of course, is the best. More than 11,000 students and graduate students study within its walls. Kazakh-British Technical University (Almaty)

Kazakh National University of Arts (Astana)
KazNUI is a unique university for Kazakhstan, one of a kind. It was formed on March 31, 1998 with the aim of studying, preserving and increasing the cultural national heritage. The university provides the needs of the regions of the republic (mainly the northern and central regions) in artists, musicians, actors, dancers, who are called upon to form the spiritual basis of society.
